Amrita Bhalla is an Associate Professor in English at the Jesus and MAry College, University of Delhi. Her passion for Indian Writing in Translation and Indian Writing in English is reflected in the Texts she teaches —- ranging from The Mahabharata, Kalidas, Saadat Hasan Manto, Ismat Chugtai, Rabindranath Tagore to Rohinton Mistry and Anita Desai. Her book on Shashi Deshpande is published by Northcote Publishers for a series titled Writers and their Work that introduces writers to an International readership. She has written Introductions to Anthologies on South Asian Writing. She is on the Steering Committee of the DSC Prize for South Asian Writing. Amrita’s interest in Hindi Cinema parallel her interest in Reading and Music.
