Dr. Damodar Bachani has nearly 39 years of professional experience in the health sector in teaching and health program management at the national level. With a background in Community Medicine, he has nearly 24 years of experience since 1992 in the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Government of India in various National Health Programs including National Program for Control of Blindness, Integrated Disease Surveillance Program, National AIDS Control Program, National Program for Prevention & Control of Cancer, Diabetes, CVD and Stroke and National Program for Health Care of the Elderly. He had significantly contributed in planning, strategic management, monitoring, human resource development and resource management of these programs. Currently in the capacity of Deputy Commissioner (NCD), he is managing NCD programs relating to cancer, diabetes, cardiovascular diseases, trauma and risk factors. He is member/convener of various committees constituted for NCD prevention and control. He has more than 100 publications in various national and international journals and a large number of technical reports and guidelines. He is also director professor in the Department of Community Medicine at Lady Hardinge Medical College & Associated Hospitals, New Delhi.
