LADY HARDINGE MEDICAL COLLEGE AND MAULANA AZAD MEDICAL COLLEGE EMERGE VICTORIOUS AT THE DARING DEBATES 2017 IN DELHI
Top debaters from various medical colleges from the capital, battled it out for top honours at the Daring Debates 2017. At the end of a close contest, Subhangi Chandan from Maulana Azad Medical College and Ishani of Lady Hardinge Medical College emerged victorious by winning the Delhi edition of the Daring Debates 2017 that was held at Vardhman Mahavir Medical College, Safdarjung Hospital today.
The topic of the debate “Medical Oath: A moral compass no more” triggered off a lot of interesting arguments and counter arguments as contestants from each team put forward their views, with one contestant speaking for the motion and the other against the motion.
The Daring Debates in Delhi was held in partnership with the Vardhman Mahavir Medical College as students and other guests cheered on the contestants in the packed Lecture Theatre 1. The verdict was announced by an eminent panel of three jury members who judged these debates and it included Dr. N.N. Mathur- Principal Vardhman Mahavir Medical College, Dr. Chintamani, Professor Surgery, Vardhman Mahavir Medical College and Dr Anil Gurtoo Director, Prof. Medicine Lady Hardinge Medical College.
Dr N.N. Mathur commented, “It was academic treat and the quality, content and language of the debate today was excellent”.
“The way students have presented themselves today at the debate is really commendable”, said Dr. Chintamani.
Dr. Anil Gurtoo while addressing the gathering emphasized to remember the necessity of morality in the profession.
The winning team won attractive prizes for their commendable performance and the biggest achievement is that they will join four other regional winners who will contest the Daring Debates grand finale on February 12th, 2017, a part of the Difficult Dialogues summit that will be held in Goa from February 10th to 12th, 2017.
