Dr. Nayreen Daruwalla has been a prominent voice in the field of gender-based violence for the last nineteen years. She developed the program on prevention of violence against women and children at SNEHA (Society for Nutrition, Education and Health Action), a Mumbai based non-profit organisation working on public-health issues. She serves as the director at SNEHA, devising programs for the prevention of gender-based violence in urban-informal settlements. Her work involves conceptualising models for the prevention of violence in low and middle income countries (with a specific focus on mental health.) She is also active in community mobilisation and intervention projects. Dr. Daruwalla has collaborated on initatives with numerous high-level organisations, including UNFPA, UNICEF, UNDP, the Ford Foundation, University College London and the Wellcome Trust.
