Vikram Patel is a professor at the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine and a Wellcome Trust principal research fellow. His work primarily focuses upon issues of mental health and adolescent health. He is the joint director of the Centre for Chronic Conditions and Injuries at the Public Health Foundation of India and is a co-founder of Sangath, a Goa-based NGO. He is a fellow of the UK’s Academy of Medical Sciences and serves for two WHO expert committees (mental health and maternal, child and adolescent health) and several Government of India committees. He was listed among TIME Magazine’s ‘100 Most Influential People’ in 2015.
